Grupo Almeida, a leading Brazilian ceramic manufacturer active in the Santa Gertrudes district, after investing in a complete latest generation SITI B&T plant for the production of porcelain stoneware tiles, has once again relied on Ancora finishing technologies for its product, confirming their trust in the SITI B&T Group. Taking advantage of the upsurge in Brazilian industry, with increasing domestic consumption and a positive trend in exports, Grupo Almeida is also promoting and growing the “Gaudi Porcelanato” brand.
On the finishing front, at first, Ancora supplied the Brazilian Group with two dry grinding lines for matt porcelain and later with two 60-head lapping lines at the kiln exit, with HiCoat surface treatment, and one grinding line for sub-formats. The plant was assembled between November and December 2019, while testing took place in January 2020 and is now working at an important pace (16 m2/minute on a 60×60 size) with a production on two lines of 24,000 m2/day.
A characteristic feature of Ancora’s finishing technologies is therefore the very high yield per square metre, with a percentage of first choice product exiting lapping close to 100%. In addition to productivity, using “made in Italy” technology and tools, it is also possible to obtain a ceramic product’s porosity that is fully protected and a very effective finish also in terms of gloss, at a very competitive cost.
The presence of the B&T do Brasil branch, with highly specialized personnel on site, is also an important added value, which adds to the other strengths of Ancora: the technological solutions themselves (the structure of the machine, the head swing, the polishing heads, the quality tools) and the extreme attention to service, which makes use of local support as well as manuals in the original language.
